[What does ESC mean?

Electronic Speed Controller.
An ESC is required to run the motor. Almost all HobbyKing motors are brushless as are the ESC’s.
Be sure to select an ESC that has an AMP ‘A’ rating higher than the maximum load accepted by the motor. If the motor is a 50A motor, make sure your ESC can handle 50 or more amps. 
-We suggest you over-rate your ESC by 10% or more.
-Always use quality batteries which can handle the maximum load of the motor/ESC without dropping voltage.
